Timbits Play at the Ducks Game

On Tuesday night, at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex in Brookfield, the visiting Bay Ducks edged the Brookfield Elks 6-4 for their fifth straight win. The Ducks now lead the Fred Fox Division by 5 points.

The Ducks took an early 2-0 first period lead when Nic Jessome scored from Mitch Coady followed by an unassisted effort from Doug Hore. Despite being down 2-0 the Elks outshot the Ducks 16-13.

In the second Elks' captain Ike Burgess cut the Ducks' lead in half when he scored, an even-strength goal, from Justin Smith. Three minutes later Jake Bullen, on the power play, restored the Ducks' 2-goal lead with Greg Grant and Matt Shannon drawing the assists.

Again, despite trailing 3-1, the Elks outshot the Ducks 16-10 in the second period and held a 32-23 two-period shot advantage.

In the third both teams scored 3 times. Matt Shannon had 2 in the period for the Ducks (one unassisted and one assisted by Andrew Bellefontaine and Nick Brewster), while Brandon Duffy had the empty netter (assisted by Bellefontaine and Hore). Replying for Brookfield were Darcy Gillis from Coady Read; Shea Brennan from Avery Withrow and finally Withrow from Brett Lauther.

The Ducks now lead the Fred Fox Division (13-4-1) good for 27 points; while the Elks fall to 9-3-4, but remain in 2nd place in the division.

The Ducks return to the St. Margaret's Centre this Saturday to take on the Windsor Royals.  Game time is 7 PM.
